Tamar Lake Cafe joins Cup Club Bude

We’re delighted to announce that Tamar Lake Café is joining the Cup Club Bude network, with the launch taking place tomorrow at Tamar Lakes parkrun.

Our team will be there tomorrow morning with a small pop-up stand to introduce the scheme, answer questions, and help visitors borrowing a Cup Club cup for the first time.

A Perfect Setting for Reuse

Set within the beautiful surroundings of Upper Tamar Lakes, the café is a natural stopping point for walkers, runners, cyclists and families spending the day outdoors.

The lakes sit on the Cornwall–Devon border, just a short drive from Bude, and offer a peaceful setting for exploring nature. Visitors come here to enjoy the walking and cycling routes around the water, spot wildlife, spend time fishing, or head out onto the lake for kayaking, canoeing or paddleboarding.

For many people, no visit is complete without a stop at the café, a favourite refuelling spot for visitors enjoying the lakes.

It’s exactly the kind of place where a returnable cup system makes perfect sense. With so many people grabbing a takeaway drink before heading out for a walk or settling by the water, reusable cups offer a simple way to reduce the number of single-use cups that would otherwise end up in the bin.

Launching with Tamar Lakes Parkrun

We’re especially excited to be launching the scheme alongside Tamar Lakes parkrun, the free weekly 5k that takes place every Saturday morning.

After the run, many participants head straight to the café for a well-earned drink. Now those post-run drinks can be part of something bigger.

Runners and visitors will be able to borrow a Cup Club reusable cup, enjoy their drink, and return it to the café when they’re finished – or bring it back later to any participating Cup Club café in Bude.

It’s a simple system, but when hundreds of takeaway drinks are served each week, those small changes quickly add up.

Why This Partnership Matters

Bringing Tamar Lake Café into the Cup Club network shows how reuse can work beyond busy town centres.

Outdoor destinations like Tamar Lakes attract people who value the environment and enjoy spending time in nature. Offering a returnable cup here fits naturally with that setting and makes it easy for visitors to make a simple, positive choice while they’re out for the day.

Each new location strengthens the network, helping make reuse the convenient option wherever people are.

A Huge Thank You to the Tamar Lake Café Team

A big thank you to Luisa and Sophie for their enthusiasm and for being so keen to bring Cup Club to Tamar Lakes. We’re thrilled to have Tamar Lake Café as part of the growing network and can’t wait to see Cup Club cups in hand around the lakes.

If you’re heading to parkrun or planning a visit to Tamar Lakes this weekend, come and say hello and give the scheme a try.

One small action. One less single-use cup. One more step towards a circular Bude.
