We’re delighted to share that as of 1st December, Café Limelight at The Castle Bude has officially joined Cup Club Bude! This is another exciting step forward as Cup Club Bude continues to grow – bringing practical, sustainable choices into everyday life for residents and visitors alike.
The Castle Bude is much more than a cafe location – it’s one of the town’s most treasured cultural hubs, owned and operated by Bude-Stratton Town Council, and open daily with free entry for all to enjoy.
Set in a beautiful Grade II-listed building overlooking Summerleaze Beach, The Castle combines history, heritage and art in one space.
Discover the Heritage Centre
Inside The Castle you’ll find the Heritage Centre, where you can explore Bude’s rich history – from prehistoric geology and early settlement, through Victorian innovations and seaside heritage, to maritime stories and local artefacts.
One of the most powerful features currently housed within The Castle is its plastic pollution display – a thought-provoking exhibition that brings the realities of plastic waste into sharp focus.
The display highlights:
- The scale of plastic pollution affecting our oceans and coastlines
- The everyday items that commonly end up as waste
- The long-lasting environmental impacts of single-use plastics
For a coastal town like Bude, these messages feel especially relevant. Visitors are encouraged not just to learn, but to reflect on how small, everyday choices like the cup we take our coffee away in, can contribute to a much bigger picture.
It’s this shared message that makes Café Limelight joining Cup Club Bude such a natural fit.
Art, Exhibitions & Galleries
Art lovers are equally well catered for at The Castle. There are two dedicated gallery spaces – The Willoughby Galleryand The Blanchminster Gallery, that host a rotating programme of exhibitions by local and West Country artists and makers.
These exhibitions change regularly throughout the year, offering free entry to inspiring artwork, crafts and creative showcases that reflect the talent and diversity of the community.
Whether you’re grabbing a coffee, browsing an exhibition, or exploring museum displays, The Castle provides a rich cultural experience alongside Café Limelight’s hospitality.
