We’re thrilled to share some amazing news – Bude-Stratton Town Council has officially given Cup Club Bude and The Circular Mindset CIC a formal letter of support!
This means a lot to us, because it’s not just a letter. It’s a clear show of belief from our local council that Bude can lead the way in community-driven sustainability.
We went along to the Facilities and Environmental Committee meeting back on September 25th and gave a presentation on our returnable cup scheme, and asked for the Council’s support.
Cup Club Bude was created with a simple goal: to make it easier for cafes and customers to ditch single-use cups and embrace reuse instead. It’s a shared system – Borrow → Enjoy → Return, that helps reduce waste, cut costs, and keep our town’s beaches, bins, and streets that little bit cleaner.
“(Bude-Stratton Town Council) is very supportive of the group’s aims to minimise use of throw-away packaging, and this very much aligns with the Council’s environmental policies and ethos.”
Receiving this letter of support from Bude-Stratton Town Council is a huge step forward. It shows that our local leaders recognise the importance of community-led action in tackling waste, supporting local businesses, and building a circular economy that works for everyone.
As a Community Interest Company (CIC), The Circular Mindset exists to help people, cafés, and communities make practical changes that protect our environment. Having our town council’s endorsement helps strengthen that mission – opening doors for collaboration, funding, and growth across Bude and beyond.
We’re so grateful to everyone at Bude-Stratton Town Council on the Facilities and Environmental Committee who took the time to meet with us, listen to our ideas, and back a local solution to a global problem.
