Chris Hines Endorses Cup Club Bude

We’re over the moon to share that Chris Hines, MBE — environmental campaigner, co-founder of Surfers Against Sewage, and founder of A Grain of Sand — has given his support to Cup Club Bude.

Chris has spent over 30 years driving change on environmental issues. His time leading Surfers Against Sewage helped transform how the UK tackles marine pollution. He later went on to be the Sustainability Director at the Eden Project and now, via A Grain of Sand, continues to push for practical, solution-focused activism.

“…this great pilot that has the potential to set a blue print for the way that communities can change the way they deal with materials and resources and start that progress towards a circular economy.”

His endorsement means the world to us. It signals that Cup Club Bude isn’t just a local pilot — it’s part of a broader movement for change, backed by voices who have been pushing the boundaries for decades.

With Chris’s backing, along with support from community groups, local businesses, and now political and environmental champions, we’re even more excited to launch on 11 October at Crooklets Beach Cafe. Together, we can make Bude a model for reuse.
